Current LGC Projects
Up one levelThe Local Government Commission currently has two projects linking land use planning and water resources. The first is called "Addressing the Disconnect: Water Resources and Local Land Use Decisions." Under this project we developed the Ahwahnee Water Principles for Resource-Efficient Land Use, and a guidebook and fact sheets to help local governments adopt and implement them. We also are hosting a series of workshops on the Principles.
Our other project, "Aligning Land Use and Water Quality Protection," has us working with local governments, water agencies of all types, and local residents and businesses to enhance the protection of water resources through better, more coordinated land use decisions. This project is focusing on Amador and Calaveras Counties, and on Ventura County.
