Redesigning California: Current Challenges In Growth and Governance
William Fulton -President & CEO Solimar Research Group, Ventura City Council - This presentation addresses the subjects of the Post-Suburban Era, how we can use different tools to redesign California, funding sources such as the bonds, and implications of growth on global warming.
Making the Connection: Linking Water and Land Use Planning
Clark Anderson - The Local Government Commission - This presentation is about the importance of addressing both land use and water when planning and developing an area. It also provides examples of the negative effects of not planning accordingly.
Green Streets LA
Paula Daniels - Commissioner, Los Angeles Board of Public Works - This presentation addresses the detrimental effects of storm water and urban runoff. It also talks about the "Green Streets" solution that is being used.
Water and Sustainable Development
Lynn Lipinski - Program Manager, Metropolitan Water District - This presentation gives an overview of the Southern California Metropolitan Water District and provides information on the importance of water conservation. It also contains examples of different projects and programs that are in action to help conserve water and maintain sustainable development.
Swimming Upstream- Overcoming Challenges and Barriers
Mark Grey - Building Industry Association of Southern California - This presentation is about "alternative approaches to proposed planning and land development programs in municipal storm water permits."
The Road Ahead: An Agenda for Sustainability
Timothy F. Brick - Managing Director, Arroyo Seco Foundation; Chairman of the Board, Metropolitan Water District of Southern California - This presentation talks about the current amount of precipitation that occurs as well as the water supply in the Southern California Metropolitan. It also addresses watershed planning and best management practices and solutions.
